In 2001 the physician members of the MIMA multi-specialty physician group created the MIMA Foundation. The formation of the MIMA Foundation, a separate Section 501(c)(3) non profit charitable organization, signifies an ongoing commitment and concern for the community MIMA serves. |

The first significant initiative of the Foundation is the creation of the MIMA Healthcare Career Scholarship Fund. Since its inception, the MIMA Foundation has given over $110,000 in scholarships and endowments to deserving men and women who are interested in beginning or furthering their education specifically in the healthcare field within Brevard County. |  |

This initiative was selected to address shortages in the healthcare field that affect the quality of care in our community. Nursing shortages have hit Florida with vacancies in nursing jobs rising from 7% to 15% in one year. One goal of the Foundation is to halt his disturbing trend by increasing the pool of trained nurses by providing financial assistance to those in need. Scholarships are also awarded to students pursuing other allied health careers. | |||||
